Reiki may be experienced as a flow of energy, mild tingling, warmth, coolness other sensations or nothing at all.
The length of the sessions may vary but are usually half to one-hour duration.
A short case history will be taken. A treatment plan will be discussed, agreed and reviewed as necessary, subject to indicated preferences - it can change at any time in line with progress.
Depending on the needs of the individual, one session can make a difference or regular sessions may prove more effective.
What happens in a session?
A session is usually carried out with the recipient laying down or sitting in a comfortable and peaceful environment. There is no need to remove clothing as Reiki energy passes easily through materials.
Hands will gently be placed on or over the body, there is no massage or manipulation. Reiki can also be given from a distance.
A session with an animal will be lead by the animal's preference in terms of proximity, and often involves ‘hands on’ or ‘hands near ‘contact. The environment will typically be familiar and quiet. If the animal is uncertain, Reiki can be sent from a distance.
If the animal chooses to receive their Reiki while in their kennel or other safe place this will not reduce the benefit of Reiki for the animal, as Reiki passes easily through materials.
It is widely accepted that reiki can be given and received equally efficiently hands off or via distant healing.
